Description

Well, that's what everyone else was thinking at least.

Dick was lonely.
When he lost his parents, something in him broke.
When Bruce adopted him, life got a little easier.

He was sitting by himself during one of some wierd charity park events that Bruce had to take part in, when another boy sat right next to him.
Seeing as there were no other children, Dick could guess that the boy wasn't invited.
The kid seemed to ignore him though. He just sat there swinging his legs and looking around, humming some song.
Dick couldn't really help it and started to hum along.
That's when the boy suddenly stopped and stared at Dick dumbfounded.
'You can hear me?' he asked surprized.
'Um...yeah' Dick raised an eyebrow at the boy. 'You weren't exactly quiet'
Turned out the boy's name is Wally.
Aparently Wally was a ghost from Keystone and he started traveling across the world a year ago, and just arrived to Gotham, and Dick is the only person so far, that could actually see him.
Dick and Wally became quick firends and they decided to meet up every evening.
Dick had school and Wally kept on travelling but they would meet everyday and talk and play.
For some reason ghosts could travel very very fast across the world. Or at least Wally could.
Bruce started worrying about Dick talking to himself, so the boys learned to talk without really saying anything.
Wally could undrestand each subtle glance or gesture that Dick made.
Years passed, and Wally had visited the whole world 2 times now.
Dick became Robin.
And their friendship still was strong as ever.

First time it happened, Artemis was dying.
She has no idea what wass going on. That was supposed to be a simple mission, but she got hit. She wasn't fast enough.
No one on their team was fast enough.
No one could get to her, and she was laying on the ground, bleeding out, and her vision was getting darker and darker.
And then she heard someone.
'Keep fighting blondie. Don't give up yet!' The voice was getting clearer. She didn't really recognize it, but she didn't want to die, so she compled.
The more she fought, the weaker the voice seemed to be, and it made her panic and fight even harder.
'Great job! Keep on fighting!' Someone seemed to encourage, but their voice seemed to grow even fainther. She was tired and closed her eyes for a moment.
The voice was suddenly loud and clear and right in her face.
'Don't give up now blondie!! You got so far! Pull yourself together!' and when her eyes opened she could actually see someone's blurry outline.
She kept on fighting. The voice grew weaker before it stopped all together. And then Aqualad was there.
Next time she woke up she was in a hospital bed. She didn't know who the voice from earlier belonged to.

Second time it happened, a hostage they were supposed to protect, almost fell from the roof.
Artemis was the only one who saw the man slipping and falling off the edge and she knew no one would be fast enough to get to him. She saw his terrified expression when he went down. And then suddenly he was back on the roof.
At first she thought it was M'gann's power that saved the hostage. But everyone was busy at the moment and didn't even notice the man falling.
...If the team didn't to it, then who?

The third time it happened Robin almost drowned.
Red Tornado's simblings broke into the cave and almost killed everyone.
She still didn't know how Robin knew how to make that electro-magnetic pulse happen.
Reds managed to capture him and held him under the water.
When she ran over to him, he wasn't breathing. And then he suddenly coughed like he was punched in the chest.
And a name escaped his lips.
'Wally you jerk' he whispered breathlessly and he seemed to look right over Artemis's shoulder.
He seemed out of it for a whole second, before registering her presence.

It was a while later, that Artemis talked about this with the rest of the team.
Zatana said she had a spell that could help, and Kaldur, M'gann and Conner agreed to their plan. Uncertainly.

'Wolla su ot ees eht tsohg' Zattana casted a spell as soon as Robin came into the room.
Boy wonder just looked at them puzzled. And then the air next to him actually wavered.
His eyes widdened.
The team could see a teenager standing there. But then his image started to...well...there is no word to describe it.
His skin became pinched, like he was getting thinner and thinner with every second. His skin started to fall off and his bones became visible. There was blood everywhere and his eyes were wide and scared. His face screwed in pain and fear. He looked like he was screaming but they didn't hear a sound.
But Robin aparently did. The team never saw their friend this scared and worried.
'Wal-' the ghost started backing up, leaving a trail of blood and rotting flesh behind him.
He backed up into the shadows and his form seemed to go back to normal looking.
He actually just sat there, breathing heavily and cluthing at his chest where a big gaping wound was slowly dissapearing.
'I'm so sorry!' Blurted out Zee, causing everyone's attention- even the ghost's- to focus on her. ' I didn't know the spell enough! I didn't know it could cause pain! So sorry!'
The ghost smiled at her through the pain and his lips moved, but no sound came out.
'Why can't we hear him?' M'gann asked and Robin blinked at them surprized.
'You don't?'
'Well. The spell was only for us to be able to see him, after all' Zee explained.
'So. Can we actually have an explanation why do you have a ghost following you around?' Asked Artemis, crossing her arms over her chest. 'Maybe we should exorcize him or something'
The ghost looked deeply offended at that, and replied with something, that was probably very rude.

Next fifteen minutes were spent on introductions and explaining how Robin is the only one who can see and hear Wally.
'Wally thinks it's because of out structural built. Our atoms are similar or something. Also he always says something about how each individual person has a different perception of time.
That's why we can see each other. Some people can see more ghosts only because their perception is similar.
...Or something. It has more sense when he says it' The team had no idea, if the explanation had any sense at all.
But on the other hand, they saw weirder stuff in their lives of super-heroing.

After a while the spell started wearing out, and Wally's image became fainter and fainter, and he could finally walk out of the shadows without having his nails fall off.
'I hope I didn't hurt you too bad' Zee still felt really guilty.
The ghost, stood up, and murmured something back, as he was checking himself for any injuries.
'Nah, it only hurt like I was being killed again.' Thankfull, that they couldn't hear him.
This caused Robin to tense up.
'You never told me you were murdered.'
...shit

The End

I might have a weakness for Ghost!Wally.
